This is a coastal painting inspired by the salt marshes off Florida’s west coast, its Gulf Coast, in Hernando County, somewhere between Aripeka and Weeki Watchee.

If you look very close you can see a lone figure fishing, but he does not dominate the scene. Native cabbage palms dot the landscape, and you can make out the shapes of cedar here and there, and in the distance can be seen an island with longleaf pine, isolated by a sunlit sea.

This is a work in progress; there are a few tasks remaining before the artist is willing to consider it finished, but she hopes you enjoy the sunset in this seascape. Or is this original art both seascape and landscape since it is a marsh? Either way, you can almost smell the salt air.
