Well, in an earlier post I had a photo of an interesting grouping of shelf bracket fungi that were velvety and deep, rich brown with a light yellow or golden edge. 

They underwent a dramatic transformation in just a week’s time, as you can see here. Now the elegant gold rims are gone and the rest of the mushroom has become a much lighter but richly mottled caramel color.

I still haven’t had a chance to look them up to find their identity, but isn’t it amazing?
