An illustration by historical artist Susan A. Walton of S. A. Walton Studio, Florida, of a prehistoric village in central Kentucky now known as the Fox Farm Site by Archaeologists.
It depicts the early circular arrangement of family housing around a central plaza used by Native Americans at the Fox Farm site.
Later, the descendants of those people adopted a different style of shelter. They began constructing very large bark-covered long houses. These long houses, in which more than one family lived, were arranged in a parallel fashion.
