Fox Farm Site Longhouses

American Archaeology Magazine illustration of the Fox Farm archaeological site by historical artist Susan A. Walton, S. A. Walton Studio, Hudson, Florida.

This painting depicts a period of time when Native American residents of the latter part of the Fort Ancient period had switched from small, single-family dwellings arranged in a circular fashion, to the use of large multi-family long houses. Rather than being arranged in a circle, the longhouses were oriented in parallel around a very large community long house.

The Fox Farm Site is an archaeological site in northern Kentucky’s outer bluegrass region.
